Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!!! I hope everyone found some time over the hectic holiday season to take care of themselves a little bit! Santa brought me a FitBit fitness tracker, which totally motivated me to get out for a good long walk most days and burn off some of the holiday goodies I'd eaten!

If you've overindulged over the holidays, don't beat yourself up. Most of us do, to some extent. After all, sharing good food and festive drinks with friends and family is a big part of what makes the holidays fun and memorable, right?! The important thing now is to get back on track with some good healthy eating habits. If you need some help with this, consider signing up for one of my upcoming group sessions. We kick-off next week for 10-weeks of informative, fun, supportive healthy-eating education (with weight loss as an added benefit)! Here's what one recent participant had to say about the program:

"I always struggled with food. With so many fad diets out there and studies telling you that "this is bad and this is good", but no now "THIS is bad". I had no clue what to do with myself. I know how to exercise, but the weight still wasn't coming off and I still felt horrible. With Shannon's Healthy Eating Group I was able to find things to eat that I LOVED and to make some smaller changes, a little at a time, trying not to be overwhelmed. The accountability of coming to group each week and the almost instant bond we shared was amazing. PLUS Shannon's smile and outgoing personality and passion for what she does, really shines."

Message me soon if you want in on the next session. We start next week and there are two times to choose from: Wednesdays at noon or Tuesdays at 6:30PM.

In the meantime, if you are feeling a little depleted after too much holiday cheer, here's a recipe for my favourite green smoothie. It's nutrient-packed and delicious! This recipe makes two large smoothies, so cut it in half if you want less. Feel free to adjust to your taste...and let me know what you think!

GREEN GOODNESS SMOOTHIE

1c water

1c coconut water (or another cup of plain ol' water)

1/2 an avocado

1 banana

1 1/2 c frozen (or fresh) mango

2c greens, (I like spinach and/or kale)

1 tbsp flax seed oil

1 tbsp chia seeds

Blend all ingredients until smooth. (I don't have a fancy blender - a regular blender should do the trick!) Enjoy!
